Each brain injury is unique and individual.  A comprehensive assessment is required to establish the client's current physical presentation, concerns to be addressed and goals of physiotherapy input.  At Neuro Rehab PT we undertake client assessments at a time and in a location convenient to the client.  From initial instruction, we at Neuro Rehab PT pride ourself in open and effective communication with all involved, ensuring that transparency is established and realistic expectations are set from the beginning.

We work with individual patients, families, case managers and solicitors and produce comprehensive, accurate and objective reports, identifying individual client presentations, short and long terms needs.

Reports are produced following initial assessment and periodically in order to provide an update on client progress.

Each brain injury is unique and therefore rehabilitation and management must be bespoke to each individual.  At Neuro Rehab PT we follow the World Health Organisation International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health to expertly formulate our management and treatment plans over the domains of impairment, activity and participation.  We work to improve postural management, strength, muscle tone, co-ordination, balance, mobility and respiratory care using the most up to date clinical evidence.  One goal common to all patients is achieving an optimal quality of life.

Approximately 75% of people with a physical disability following a severe traumatic brain injury will develop spasticity.

Cerebral palsy is the most common condition associated with spasticity in children and young people.

Spasticity, if unmanaged can lead to pain, contracted joints, falls, and reduced upper and lower limb function.

Spasticity requires specialist expertise for effective management.

At Neuro Rehab PT we are proficient in undertaking Botulinum Toxin injections, prescribing medication, serial casting and developing bespoke clinical managemet plans to treat spasticity.

With 168 hours in each week, and a physiotherapist being present for a few at most, support staff and families will bear the responsibility for implementing prescribed physiotherapeutic plans. At Neuro Rehab PT we work with our client's teams ensuring they have the skills and confidence to competently undertake our bespoke management plans, ensuring our clients reach and maintain their potential, and that any evolving concerns are identified without delay.

The advantages of aquatic physiotherapy in a hydrotherapy environment are numerous and are underpinned by the physiological benefits of heat and hydrostatic pressure and the apparent weightlessness due to the patient's buoyancy in water. Among many benefits, aquatic physiotherapy can: 

• Reduce muscle spasticity.

• Enable new skills to be learned in an unencumbered environment.

• Make movements easier – carrying out exercises and activities that cannot yet be achieved on land allows for more rapid progress.

• Maintain essential skills for function and independence, such as standing, balancing and walking.

At Neuro Rehab PT we are proficient in undertaking Neurological Physiotherapy Expert Witness quantum reports.   We work with both litigation and defence solicitors and provide objective, credible recommendations.  Because we also to continue practice clinically, we remain up to date with new and evolving interventions, evidence based treatments and know first hand the challenges of implementing physiotherapeutic plans in community settings.

At Neuro Rehab PT we are skilled in serial casting to maximise soft tissue length and maintenance.  Serial casting is evidenced to be the most effective treatment for contracture management in cerebral palsy.  Should range of movement not be maintained, client ability to stand and weight bear can become compromised and this can have a detrimental impact on many of the body's basic functions.

Neurological physiotherapy in isolation cannot maximise potential following brain injury.  At Neuro Rehab PT we work with our client's clinical teams, support staff, legal representatives and family members, to ensure that holistic and seamless interventions are provided.
